It is the nightmare of every carnival builder as just before Carnival burns off the car for the parade. This happened to CV crazy in Etten-Leur. But they don’t give up because there are still 20 days left. “The show must go on”, builder Ries van der Borst shines under the watchful eye of the prince who came to support a heart.
Welding sounds and carnival music roar from the new construction location on Sunday. It was necessary because on January 30 the shed burned down with the car that was still under construction. That it still seems to be fine now is important for the members of CV, says Ries. “It was just very heavy emotionally. It closes something to build now.”
Last week a new construction site was found and that is why the members can laugh carefully again. “We don’t give up. We have started something, then we will continue. We are not to stop.”
Prince Thomas II from Stijlorenrijk and his consequence, on Sunday, enter the shed completely unexpectedly. They bring a crate of lager and a bowl full of frog sweets. “A boost,” says the Highness, less known as Thomas Lauwen. “Good to see how they stay so enthusiastic! Beautiful!” The beer was welcome, because a large pile of crates had melted in the fire.

The shock of the fire is still a lot at the builders: “There was a flame somewhere. They still tried to extinguish with two fire extinguishers. Within six seconds, the whole roof was on fire. In five minutes the whole shed was gone” , Sombert Ries. Everyone could get away on time.
The damage for the club is huge. “Forty to sixty thousand euros,” Ries estimates. Not only the car is gone, but also all kinds of tools, motorbikes and pumps. “For insurance is the old iron.” The parade organization is therefore A collection campaign started.
The theme of the new car is very appropriate: The show must go on. The car gets a circus tent with a huge head of the circus director and associated acts. Sure, the car becomes smaller than normal. “We are already happy that we can walk with the parade. We are going to pop,” Ries promises.
