According to Jonker, there were no fewer than fifteen absentees at Telstar prior to the game. Partly because of this, the bank at the Velsenaren mainly consisted of players from Jong Telstar. “I just don’t have any more”, Jonker said afterwards. “This was it. We could bring this. Nice match, but that is of no use at 0-3.”
