The organizers of the Easter fire in Dalen have done their best to prevent it, but this morning their Easter bump went through the fragmenter. “You really get a knot from this in the stomach for a few days.”

Jan Uineken from Volksvermaken Dalen filed an objection last weekend against the decision of the municipality of Coevorden, hoping to let their Easter fire flame at a later time. But in vain. “In a conversation with the municipality, we clearly showed our dissatisfaction. The last word has not yet been spoken about this.”

According to Uineken, it has also happened in the past that the bump went on fire after Easter. “We have sometimes had a liberation fire or a royal fire. The possibilities are not looked at.”

“I think they get it, but they don’t understand. Next year we will just get going again in good spirits. There will still be a lot of conversations with other organizations and the municipality, because this has to be resolved.”

The municipality of Coevorden indicated in a response to the Drenthe line with regard to the Easter fires. “It’s about safety. We do this because otherwise it is a danger to the environment.”
