HSV against 1. FC Köln – this duel was part of the Bundesliga for decades like few others. The traditional clubs are now playing in the 2nd league and played a thrilling game there.

Hamburger SV has taken the lead in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the top duel on matchday 18, the North Germans narrowly won 1-0 (0-0) against 1. FC Köln.

Ransford Königsdörffer scored the goal of the day in Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion in the 78th minute in the follow-up to a penalty that was parried by FC keeper Marvin Schwäbe. Even though Cologne threw everything forward in the final phase and Eric Martel (87th) hammered the ball onto the post.

With the victory, HSV, which was previously in third place, moved past Cologne into first place in the 2nd league. The “Effzeh”, however, fell back to second place. Both teams now have 21 points.

Karlsruher SC (29 points) can still overtake the two traditional clubs on Sunday afternoon with a win at 1. FC Nürnberg (from 1:30 p.m. in the t-online live ticker).
