Just like last year, Desirée comes to the funeral home. Here she reflects on the loss of her sister Yvette and her friend Lisanne. Both died suddenly in a bicycle accident. “The sadness never goes away for me, but it is important to celebrate the beautiful moments we had,” she says.
That is possible in the funeral home. Rituals such as lighting a candle or writing down a message provide her with tools to grieve. “Here I can say and show the names of Lisanne and Yvette. They deserve to be remembered.”
