The cremation of Surinamese former president Desi Bouterse will take place on Saturday, January 4 in Paramaribo, the main board of his National Democratic Party (NDP) has announced. The evening before, the party reflects on Bouterse’s life and work during a singi neti, a memorial evening in which, according to tradition, song and prayer play an important role.
