‘Der Spiegel’: “EU to train up to 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers” | War Ukraine and Russia

Under the plan, Poland will receive EU funds to act as the training headquarters. Some parts of the training will be conducted in other EU countries. The final details of the training program will be negotiated in Brussels next week, according to ‘Der Spiegel’.

Germany plans to offer troop training in a combat simulation center and is also ready to train Ukrainian engineers, medics and other specialists. Chancellor Olaf Scholz had already indicated in August that he wanted to cooperate with this. At the time, Denmark also promised to support a training project – led by the British – for 130 troops.

Britain, which is no longer a member of the EU, has been training Ukrainian soldiers for some time. In mid-July, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers began a short basic training in England. With the knowledge that the volunteers gain, they should be able to fight against the Russian army.
