Kökcü came over from the Finnish HJK Helsinki last summer and made 31 appearances last season. The attacking midfielder scored one goal and provided two assists. It is not yet known where the 27-year-old native of Haarlem will continue his career.
Kuwas also leaves
Brandley Kuwas and FC Volendam also part ways after relegation to the first division. Kuwas returned to the club two years ago for which he previously played between 2012 and 2015.
In his second period, the Curaçao international celebrated the championship of the first division and played a total of 67 matches in which he scored twelve goals and prepared eight goals.
Kuwas (33) has been included in Dick Advocaat’s selection and will play the World Cup with Curaçao next month against Germany, Ecuador and Ivory Coast.
Deflation
FC Volendam previously said goodbye to veterans Robert Mühren and Aaron Meijers. In addition, no fewer than seven mercenaries are leaving: Dave Kwakman, Bilal Ould-Chikh, Anthony Descotte, Nick Verschuren, Juninho Bacuna, Joel Ideho and Benjamin Pauwels. Nothing is yet known about the future of Mawouna Amevor (expiring contract).
In addition, technical director Patrick Busby has to look for a new trainer. Last Wednesday, Volendam announced that Rick Kruys’ contract (which ran until 2028) had been terminated.
