Denzel Curry releases new single “Zatoichi” together with Slowthai

Denzel Curry drops a new music video for the track “Zatoichi (feat. Slowthai)”. It is the second single release from his still unreleased album MELT MY EYEZ SEE YOUR FUTURE. The production of the video is once again of immense quality and the backdrop is cinematic. Now watch and listen to Curry perform a samurai-inspired combat training in one of the jungles of Asia:

In his imaginative videos, the rapper likes to slip into other roles. The single “Zatoichi” combines rap with a cinematic Asian aesthetic. The lyrics are socially critical and at the same time very personal. The British rapper Slowthai provides the first musical support for “Zatoichi”. Both rappers had previously collaborated on Curry’s single “Psycho.” Born in 1994, Slowthai is only a year older than Curry and is associated with British grime. A style of music that grew out of dubstep and the UK Garage. Slowthai’s debut album NOTHING GREAT ABOUT BRITAIN was released in 2019.

Curry has worked with Glass Animals and Flying Lotus, and counts Canadian rapper Drake among his fans. As announced in the album trailer for his new record, he has drawn on a long list of feature acts. In addition to Slowthai, T-Pain, 6lack, Rico Nasty, Buzzy Lee, Thundercat, JID, Robert Glasper, JPEGMAFIA and Kenny Beats will also be part of the party. MELT MY EYEZ SEE YOUR FUTURE will be the rapper’s sixth studio album.

About this one, Curry said, “I like traditional hip-hop, I like drum and bass, I like trap, I like poetry. So a lot of that will flow into this album, including jazz and a lot of genres that I grew up with in my parents’ house. This album is everything I couldn’t give you on TA13OO or IMPERIAL because I had issues with depression and anger.” A release date remains unknown.
