Luka Dončić’s move to Los Angeles split the NBA. The German star Dennis Schröder chooses hard words for this.

Schröder, currently playmaker at the Golden State Warriors and in his twelfth season in the NBA, critically commented on the frequent players of player within the league. In an interview with NBC, he said: “It is like modern slavery. Others can decide where to go, even though you have a contract.”

Despite high salaries and financial security, Schröder sees the players at the mercy of the system. “The teams can decide this and there should be changes,” said the native of Braunschweig.

Specifically to the Dončić deal, Schröder said: “He brought them money, the NBA finals last year and now he cannot sign $ 117 million because he was traded.”

The background is a planned maximum contract for around 331 million euros that Dončić should have signed in the Mavericks. Due to its move to the Lakers, the highest possible offer is now around 220 million euros over five years.

After a victory against Orlando Magic, Schröder continued: “At the end of the day, your salary remains the same. You have to go to another city. This is a luxury problem.” For him, after twelve years, this was nothing new in the league and belongs to the business.

Despite the change, Dončis is continued by the Lakers, whereby around 42 million euros will be paid for the next two seasons.
