Den Helder Suns must leave the national title to Grasshoppers

Den Helder Suns did not manage to keep Grasshoppers from winning the national title. The basketball players from Katwijk were also too strong for the North Hollanders in the third game: 68-67.

After the two previous losses, Suns knew it had to win to keep the best of five series alive. Grasshoppers were the parent in their own sports hall from the first minute and led 38-31 at halftime. Den Helder fought back into the game in the third quarter and, thanks to 23 points from Kelsi Lidge, even opened a gap of seven points with the home team early in the fourth quarter.

In the closing minutes it was equal, but in the end it was the home team that won the match. Grasshoppers thus became champion of the Netherlands for the third time in club history.
