Two representatives of the state of Minnesota, John Hoffman and Melissa Hortman, were probably shot at home with their partners in the night from Friday to Saturday. Melissa Hortman and her husband died.

According to the emergency services, the perpetrator presented himself as a police officer. He managed to escape after a firefight with the police. The perpetrator is currently missing every track.

The wounded senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette have undergone surgery. “We are cautiously optimistic that they will survive this murder attempt,” says Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota.

According to local media, the police have sent agents to the places of other parliamentarians to secure them. In a part of the Brooklyn Park district, residents are advised to stay inside.

“Today I was informed of the shooting incidents in Champlin and Brooklyn Park,” writes Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota, in a message on Facebook. “The emergency services are on site. We will share more information later.”

The Democratic party leader Hakeem Jeffries emphasizes in a post on X that ‘violence is never acceptable’. He calls the shooting incidents in Minnesota “particularly disturbing” and expresses his condolences to the family of the victims.
