Thousands demonstrated in Berlin – now Hamburg is calling for protest. The Ulmen-Fernandes case makes digital sexualized violence an issue for everyone.
Serious allegations against film producer and actor Christian Ulmen were recently made public by his ex-wife Collien Fernandes. For years he is said to have created fake sexual content about her and distributed it within the immediate environment of the couple at the time.
In the public discussion, this is treated as a new digital form of sexual violence. The case also has social consequences: There are now demonstrations against sexualized violence of all kinds against women in major German cities.
First Berlin, then Hamburg
On Sunday, March 22, 2026, thousands came together in Berlin to demonstrate together against sexual violence against women and to demand stricter legal measures to protect them. However, that’s not all: the next demonstration will take place next Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Hamburg.
The Hamburg SPD parliamentary representative Annika Urbanski posted a call for demonstrations on Instagram. In it she wrote: “Enough is enough! Shame has to change sides!” From 5:30 p.m., as many people as possible should gather at Hamburg’s town hall market to demonstrate together. The call stated that the protection for those affected in Germany was inadequate and that this situation had to be changed.
A prominent supporter of the call is “Fridays for Future” activist Luisa Neubauer. She was already at the demo in Berlin on March 22, 2026 and gave a speech on the topic there. Collien Fernandes also shared the demo in an Instagram story.
The Justice Senator is also calling for stricter laws
Already on Friday, March 20, 2026, Justice Senator Anna Gallina called for the legal situation to be tightened in the “NDR Hamburg Journal”. The problem of digital sexualized violence is a growing one – and so far it is not a crime to upload fake, explicit content from a person to the Internet without their consent.
This is exactly where the demonstrations start. Through them, the Ulmen-Fernandes case now takes on a social and political level.
