Next year’s COP will take place in November and will be hosted in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. “Since I will not be chairman of the National Climate Commission next year and will no longer be a spokesperson on behalf of Belgium for the European Environment Council, I would not have any formal duties during the COP. I will therefore not go to the United Arab Emirates”, Demir announced in the Flemish Parliament.
“Fortunately, the strength of a good climate policy is not determined by the number of hands you shake in the desert, but by the policy you conduct yourself,” the minister added.
