The Kölner Haie celebrated their 13th win in a row in the DEL in Bremerhaven, setting their own club record. In the end it was 4:2 (1:0, 1:1, 2:1) for Kari Jalonen’s team.
13 wins in a row – that was the Sharks’ highest German record in the 1995/1996 and 2005/2006 seasons Ice hockeyleague succeeded. This means that the longest DEL winning streak for the Haie is within reach.
Cheers again from the Kölner Haien
The Adler Mannheim won 15 games in a row from November 27, 2001 to January 18, 2002. This seems feasible for the Haie with the upcoming games against the Iserlohn Roosters and ERC Schwenningen.
Kölner Haie are 12 points ahead
Coach Kari Jalonen’s team now leads the table with a clear lead. EHC Red Bull Munich, second in the table, is already twelve points behind. At least the Sharks have long since qualified for the playoff qualifying round. There are still twelve games left until the end of the main round.
Optimal Exploitation of opportunities the sharks
The Penguins started with the self-confidence of six wins from the last seven games and were the better team from the start. The Haie concentrated on defense, but made better use of their chances.
Tanner Kero pushed the puck over the line in the 16th minute – it was only Cologne’s third shot on goal and the somewhat fortunate lead to 1-0.
Cologne Juvonen holds up brilliantly
The hosts also acted more powerfully in the second half and created good chances. But they repeatedly failed because of the brilliant Cologne goalie Janne Juvonen.
The Cologne team scored the goal again. Oliwer Kaski hit the box with a slap shot from the blue line in the top right to make it 2-0. Penguin goalkeeper Hungerecker’s view was slightly obscured.
Tension in the final third
It was only when they had a double majority towards the end of the period that the Northern Lights were able to overcome goalie Juvonen. Colt Conrad scored 1:2.
So things got really exciting again in the final third. First, Maximilian Kammerer restored the two-goal gap to 3-1 (47th) with his 16th goal of the season. Kammerer had scored in all four games against the Fischtowns this year.
Always an answer from Cologne
But the Penguins immediately struck back through Alex Friesen, who shot the puck through Juvonen’s pads just a minute later. It was only 2:3. However, not for very long, because Patrick Russell didn’t miss the chance in the 50th minute and chased the puck back into the Bremerhaven net – 4:2.
The Kölner Haie left the ice cheering again.
Haie now against Iserlohn
The sharks continue on Sunday. Then the Iserlohn Roosters come to the arena for the NRW duel (4.30 p.m.).
