DEL: Polar bears make a mistake, Iserlohn is no longer last

As of: February 13, 2024 10:18 p.m

Leaders Eisbären Berlin made a mistake in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) after the international break. The nine-time champion lost 0:3 (0:0, 0:1, 0:2) to the strong Schwenninger Wild Wings at the start of the 45th match day on Tuesday (February 13, 2024).

Seven games before the end of the main round, the capital club leads the table with three points ahead of pursuers Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven. Tylor Spink (26th), Alexander Karachun (46th) and Kyle Platzer (59th) shot the Wild Wings to their 19th home win and initially into fourth place. The Schwenningers have a good chance of qualifying directly for the DEL play-offs for the first time. The lead over the Kölner Haie in seventh place is five points.

Iserlohn is no longer last

The fight to stay in the league is also coming to a head. The Iserlohn Roosters left last place for the first time since matchday 15 after winning 5:4 (0:2, 2:1, 3:1) in Cologne. This was temporarily taken over by the Augsburg Panthers, who can only join the Eisbären on Friday.

The Nuremberg Ice Tigers are back in the middle of the relegation battle after the 3:4 (2:0, 1:3, 0:1) against the Straubing Tigers. The Franconians are only five points ahead of Augsburg. However, Düsseldorfer EG is only one point away from first place for the pre-play-offs.
