Status: 03/19/2023 5:47 p.m

After two defeats, EHC Munich was able to close the gap in the quarter-final series against Fischtown Pinguins. The winner of the DEL main round flexed his muscles in the 7:1 (3:0, 2:0, 2:1) thrashing victory.

Filip Varejcka (10th), Trevor Parkes (13th) and Yasin Ehliz (20th) ensured clear conditions in their own hall in the first third. The game was finally decided against overwhelmed Bremerhaven after goals from Benjamin Street (25th) and Christopher DeSousa (39th) in the second period. Varejcka (45′) and Justin Schütz (51′) even made it 7-0, the only goal for the guests was Phillip Bruggisser (54′).

Bruggisser had given Bremerhaven their second win in the second game two days earlier with his goal to make it 3-2. The underdog had previously won 3-1 in Munich and is only missing two more wins to progress. The EHC, which won the main round with a lead of 19 points, must win at least three of the next four games. On Wednesday (March 22, 2023) the two teams will meet again in Bremerhaven.

Wolfsburg takes the lead against Straubing

Matthew Lorito gave Wolfsburg the lead after just 188 seconds (3rd), but it didn’t take Jason Akeson too long to equalize for Straubing (10th). Jean-Christophe Beaudin decided the hard-fought game shortly before the end of the second period (40th) and thus ensured the second Grizzly victory in a row. Game four takes place in Wolfsburg on Wednesday.
