DEL: Nuremberg with a top final sprint on the play-off course

The Nuremberg Ice Tigers have advanced to the pre-play-off ranks in the German Ice Hockey League. Decision was a final sprint in the last six minutes.

With a 4:1 (0:0, 1:0, 3:1) against the Straubing Tigers, the Franconians celebrated their second win in the last three games in the DEL on Thursday evening (February 2nd, 2023) and pushed the Iserlohn Roosters out of the middle section of the table.

Three late goals from the Tigers

Straubing, on the other hand, missed a more comfortable starting position for the upcoming final sprint for the first six play-off places after two successes in a row. Lower Bavaria, in fourth place, is still only seven points ahead of seventh.

Nuremberg took the lead through Gregor MacLeod (31st). Although the guests equalized in the final section through Michael Connolly (48th), Daniel Schmölz (54th), Ryan Stoa (56th) and Patrick Reimer (59th) made the Ice Tigers’ 13th home win perfect.
