The Iserlohn Roosters lost an entertaining DEL game against the Löwen Frankfurt in penalty shooting.
After there was no winner after 65 minutes, Cameron Brace decided the game for Frankfurt – Iserlohn with 3: 4 (1: 1, 1: 0, 1: 2, 0: 0: 1) beat. After the defeat, Iserlohn loses the connection to the table tenth Frankfurt – with one point less than the Düsseldorfer eG, Iserlohn remains penultimate and is now six points ahead of the Augsburg Panther.
Before the start of the game, both teams gathered on the ice and thought to the late professional of the Eisbären Berlin, Tobias Eder, with a minute’s silence. The 26-year-old succumbed to the complications of his cancer on Wednesday.
Frankfurt counters Iserlohn’s leadership
Both teams started with a lot of vigor. Iserlohn played the first chance after four minutes. Christian Thomas just put the puck past the goal. The newcomer made it better a little later. After passing from Dal Colle, Thomas pulled off directly and was lucky that his disc was deflected unsustainably (8th).
The guests from Frankfurt seemed little impressed and only equally equalized two minutes later (10th). Initially parried goalie Hendrik Hane the shot by Maksim Matushkin. The rebound landed on the basement of an Iserlohn defender, crashed back to Hane’s shoulder and from there into his own goal. Both teams continued to play at high speed, but in the last third there was no precision.
Iserlohn dominates the Center section
Even in the first ten minutes of the middle section, chances remained in short supply. Thomas used the next major opportunity for his second goal (29th). Frankfurt’s goalkeeper Juho Olkinuora was still able to thwart the shot from Shane Gersich, but Thomas then banged the rebound over the line.
The game became more intense after the renewed Iserlohn leadership. Both teams collected a few minutes on my penalty, especially the Frankfurters found themselves on the penalty bench too often. Overnight outnumbered the Roosters almost increased to 3: 1. Matushkin saved on the line for Frankfurt (35th).

The final minutes then became spectacular. Almost two minutes before the end, Daniel Wirt took the first guest tour. With a lot of speed, he ran alone on the goal, but failed due to Olkinuora. And also because Hane saved in the duel against Brace shortly afterwards, the overtime remained goalless.
In the penalty shootout, Iserlohn’s Tarro Jentzsch awarded the decisive penalty after Brace had previously met for Frankfurt. Iserlohn is a guest in Wolfsburg on Sunday (4.30 p.m.).
