DEL, ice hockey: Eisbären Berlin suffer surprise bankruptcy

The Eisbären Berlin suffered their first defeat of the year. The leaders of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) surprisingly lost 2:3 (0:2, 2:0, 0:1) against the Schwenninger Wild Wings on Thursday evening.

The Berliners are still three points ahead of the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven, who, however, have played one game less.

Schwenningen started strong and quickly led 2-0. Boaz Bassen (4th) and Christopher Brown (9th) scored. The Eisbären needed time to recover, but then they also struck twice in front of 13,389 spectators – through Zachary Boychuk (30th) and Tobias Eder (39th).

But Brown (58th) again delivered the decisive blow for Schwenningen.
