In the first game with the new coach, the Lions Frankfurt immediately made an exclamation mark. Against Mannheim, the team was wide awake in every third right from the start.

The Lions Frankfurt can claim a derby win in the DEL happy: They won against Adler Mannheim 3-2 on Friday evening. It was the first win in the first game under new coach Tom Pokel.

The Lions started the game perfectly: After just 30 seconds, Matthew Wedman made it 1-0 and had the Frankfurt fans cheering in the sold-out hall. Although Mannheim subsequently applied more pressure and the game became more heated, the home team took the lead into the first third break.

Pfaffengut and Lobach bring victory on the way

In the second round there was another lightning start. Less than two minutes had been played when Daniel Pfaffengut made it 2-0. However, a counterattack brought the Adler back.

But Frankfurt also proved to be an early starter in the final section: After just under three minutes, Dennis Lobach ran alone towards the goal and made it 3-1. Three minutes before the end, Mannheim made things even more exciting with the goal. However, the lions managed to win the derby.

But the celebration shouldn’t last too long: the away game against reigning champions Berlin continues on Sunday (7 p.m.).
