Defending champion Eisbären Berlin has consolidated the lead in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).
The champions beat the Augsburg Panthers 3: 1 (0: 1, 1: 0, 2: 0) on Tuesday and celebrated their first win of the new year.
With 70 points, the Eisbären continue to lead the league ahead of last year’s final opponent Grizzlys Wolfsburg (65).
First, Matthew Puempel gave the guests the lead (8th). Eric Mik equalized for the capitals (23rd) before Giovanni Fiore (46th) and Yannick Veilleux (59th) scored the decisive goals in the final third.
