DEL, 16th matchday: Eisbären Berlin stop the free fall

The Eisbären Berlin have stopped their series of failures in the DEL. But the problems also became clear with the victory in Bietigheim.

On Thursday evening (October 27th, 2022), the German champions, who had previously suffered four defeats in a row in the German Ice Hockey League, won 5: 2 (1: 0, 1: 1, 3: 1) at the Bietigheim Steelers. Zach Boychuk scored twice, while Giovanni Fiore, Kevin Clark and Manuel Wiederer also scored for the capitals.

Busy start

In front of 2,173 spectators in the Bietigheimer Arena, the Berliners got off to a shaky start and were lucky that the home side were unable to convert their early chances.

The hosts were able to equalize in the second period. Eisbären goalie Juho Markkanen deflected a cross from Bietigheim defender Mathew Maione into his own net.
