The trading group Deichmann SE was able to defy the adverse market conditions in the past financial year. The shoe supplier announced on Monday that sales reached around 8.9 billion euros in 2025, exceeding the previous year’s level by more than two percent.
According to its own information, the group achieved around 70 percent of its total sales abroad. In Germany, revenues amounted to around 2.7 billion euros. In total, the group of companies recently had around 4,700 branches – 1,300 of them in Germany – as well as 40 online shops in more than 30 countries.
For 2026, the company says it will continue to focus on “moderate growth and modernization”. The group said that “in addition to the new corporate campus, investments are planned in the modernization of the branch network, the expansion of the digital e-commerce platform and omnichannel services as well as in IT.” In this way, the retailer “strengthens its competitiveness and the customer experience sustainably”.
“We are aware of the ongoing uncertain political and economic situation,” emphasized Chairman of the Board of Directors Heinrich Deichmann in a statement. “That’s why we as a group of companies continue to act cost-consciously and with a sense of proportion – and invest specifically where it is beneficial for sustainable corporate development. This is how we keep our family business resilient and future-proof.”
The group described the construction of a new atrium building on the site of the company headquarters in Essen as a “strong sign of confidence”. The building, designed by the internationally renowned architectural firm Gerkan, Marg and Partner (GMP), was ceremoniously opened on Monday.
“The new building is an expression of our positive development and a sustainable commitment to our home location in Essen,” explained Heinrich Deichmann. “We are investing in the future viability of our family business and creating modern, inspiring working environments for our workforce. With the new building, we are creating space in the Essen headquarters for a total of around 1,500 employees.”
