In the event of an invasion by Russia, it should be opposed not only by the army of Ukraine, but by the entire Ukrainian nation, declared Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov in an op-ed for Ukrayinska Pravda.
“I urge citizens to consider how you are ready to join the defense of the state,” Reznikov said.
In his column, the minister explained that Russian attempts to cause “panic, discouragement and confusion” in Ukraine must be countered by a prepared and united nation. “Then the aggressor will have no chance. And even thoughts of resorting to some kind of adventure, ”he said.

Reznikov recalled the decision of the Verkhovna Rada law “On the Foundations of National Resistance”, which came into force at the beginning of 2022. The resistance, according to the document, includes the resistance movement itself, as well as territorial defense and the system of training citizens. Soon, the Ukrainian authorities will begin informing citizens who want to join the territorial defense forces about the course of action, Reznikov added.
