With a view to the preparation of the organization, the Ministry of Defense wants to collaborate with logistics and transport companies. For example with large -scale European exercises, or during a safety crisis. Yesterday a meeting took place in Woerden Castle for the Road Transport and Translating services. More than 100 interested logistics partners received information.
The Ministry of Defense publishes the tenders for these services next summer.
Participants will work together in a so -called Eco System Logistics. The Commandant Defense Support Command told about the necessity of the Ecosystem Logistics: “The armed forces has a huge logistical need. We need logistics partners to provide this. Through a smart combination of our own transport capacity and cooperation with civil logistics partners, we are always ready for the armed forces, even in the most challenging circumstances.
Interested parties can register on tenders to support large military journeys and supply troops. This involves transporting food and drinking water. There is also hazardous substances such as fuels, oils, lubricants, aircraft fuels, aircraft oils and aircraft lubricants.
In addition, weapons, ammunition, military equipment, equipment and reserve parts must be transported. Finally, it concerns clothing, housing goods, cleaning agents and field reinforcement equipment and building materials. In addition, Defense needs partners for transfer tasks, such as loading, lifting and lifting work for the transport of the above articles.
Contracts
The contracts are concluded for 7 years. For example, Defense assures itself of guaranteed capacity in the run -up to and during a war or crisis. Small interested companies can work as a subcontractor at larger parties.
Responsible
Based on threat analyzes, the armed forces assesses whether it is justified to use transport companies in certain areas. On the last part to the front, the so -called ‘Last Tactical Mile‘, Defense itself provides transport.
A war in Europe is possible. NATO troops from abroad then use the Netherlands as a transit country. That is possible over the road, the track, the water or through the air. In addition, the Ministry of Defense provides logistical support, but if necessary also for, for example, spare parts, ammunition and fuel.
