Defending champion Orange under 17 starts European Championship with victory over Bulgaria | NOW

The Orange under 17 started the European Championship in Israel on Monday with a victory over Bulgaria. The team of national coach Mischa Visser triumphed 3-1.

The Netherlands fell behind after seven minutes, but cleared that deficit before half-time. Ajax midfielder Gabriel Misehouy equalized after half an hour with a hard shot in the far corner.

Fifteen minutes after the break, the Dutch took the lead via Isaac Babadi, who scored the 1-2 with a hard shot through the inside of the post. In stoppage time Jason van Duiven determined the final score with a shot that changed direction.

The Netherlands will also play against Poland (Thursday) and France (Sunday) in the group stage. Because France won 6-1 against Poland, the French are at the top of the group after one game.

The last two editions of the European Championship under 17 were canceled due to the corona pandemic. At the last European Championships, which were held in 2018 and 2019, the Orange was the best.
