Last year the Boston Celtics were able to win the NBA. Nothing will become of it this season. The Knicks showed the borders to the champion.

With an impressive performance, the New York Knicks brought an abrupt end to the NBA title dreams of the record champion Boston Celtics. In game six of the quarter -final series, the team from the Big Apple gave the stricken previous year no chance and clearly won 119: 81. With this, the Knicks won the fourth victory of the series and for the first time in 25 years are in the final of the Eastern Conference. Opponents from Wednesday (local time) are the Indiana Pacers.

The game in Madison Square Garden at home was already decided at the break. With an outstanding second quarter, the Knicks settled early and won this section of the game with 38:17. At half -time they were already at 64:37. There was also prominence among the spectators: actors such as Timothée Chalamet, musician Lenny Kravitz as well as Ben Stiller and Spike Lee followed the dominant performance of the home side.

New York convinced on the offensive across the entire team strength: six players scored double -digit points. Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby each came to 23 points. The German rookie Ariel Hukporti was not used. At the Celtics, Jaylen Brown was the best thrower with 20 points. Top star Jayson Tatum was missing due to injury – he had torn the Achilles tendon in game four.

Knicks playmaker Jalen Brunson recalled his father Rick, who stood in the Conference final with New York in 2000 in 2000. It is “great” that the team has now come back for the first time. That means a lot to the club and the city, emphasized the Point Guard.

Head coach Tom Thibodeau praised his team for his appearance: The Knicks had played “great from the start to finish”. Boston is a strong team both offensive and defensively who do nothing. “You have to earn it. And I think we did it,” said Thibodeau.

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla in turn seemed disappointed. He made it clear: “Ultimately, we set ourselves a goal and did not achieve it.”
