Def Leppard’s Rick Allen speaks out after robbery

Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen has spoken out for the first time since he was attacked on March 13. The 59-year-old was knocked to the ground by 19-year-old Max Edward Hartley from Ohio in front of a hotel in Fort Lauderdale and suffered a head injury. The perpetrator was arrested shortly thereafter.

“I thank everyone for their overwhelming support. Your love and prayers are really helping. My wife Lauren [Monroe] luckily wasn’t with me during the incident. We are now together and recovering in a safe environment,” the statement said.ABC News“ is present.

“We ask that you support us as we move from dismay and shock to compassion and empathy. We understand that this act of violence can trigger many people. Thinking of all fans, veterans, and first responders in our global community. Together and with love, we can all get through these difficult times,” the statement said.

A helper was also injured

Hartley faces charges of vandalism, double assault and “abuse of an elderly or disabled adult.” In the incident, he injured a woman who wanted to help the drummer. Allen lost his left arm in 1984, which had to be amputated after a car accident. He continued as the band’s drummer and was in Florida due to their tour with Mötley Crüe.
