Leo Neugebauer won gold at athletics World Cup in Japan. The German decathlon is still in Tokyo and now thanked the fans.

“I’m still here in Japan. The sun is shining differently and I am still trying to process what happened last weekend. It was crazy,” he said in an Instagram story.

“I got so much support. I am very grateful to everyone and still enjoy Japan. I was crazy about a sumo competition,” the 25-year-old continued.

With 8,804 points, Neugebauer voted for the decathlon world champion. Silver secured Ayden Owens-Delerme from Puerto Rico, bronze went to Kyle Garland from the USA. Niklas Kaul, world champion from 2019, took fourth place in Japan.
