“A very special evening,” says Martin Grotenhuis about the first European home match. The match against Slovan Bratislova was the sixteenth final of the Challenge Cup (3rd European tournament). “We lost the first set, but after that the momentum started. Especially with the audience behind us, our players reached a very high level.”
After falling behind 0-1, Huizen took the second, third and fourth sets. There was a stunt in the air. “Last time we had a long journey behind us and this time it applied to them. Perhaps that helped, Huizen also showed very good volleyball. Unfortunately, that did not work out in the decisive set.”
