The 25-year-old debutant Thymen Arensman provided a big surprise on Saturday in the Tour de France. Arensman, driving for Ineos Grenadiers and Debutant in the Tour, managed to win the fourteenth stage of the Tour de France.
Arensman, who was already quite close to a stage victory in the tenth stage of this Tour, proved to be among the best climbers in the world during the ride. This stage, the third in a series of climbing rides in the Pyrenees with the final climb Luchon superbagnères, is considered one of the heaviest of its kind.
Yet Arensman managed to stand up. With more than 36 kilometers to go, De Gelderlander went on solo adventure. He soon hit a three -minute gap. In final kilometers, Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, respectively number one and two in the rankings, decided to attack, but the gap with Arensman finally remained larger than a minute.
