The German national ice hockey team achieved its first success in preparing for the World Cup. National coach Harold Kreis’s team won 3-1 (0-1, 2-0, 1-0) against Olympic fourth-placed Slovakia in Kaufbeuren – in the absence of most of the regular players who are still in the playoffs of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) or in the North American NHL.
