Dangerous situations have arisen in large parts of the region due to the heavy rainfall. A 34-year-old man was killed in a flood in Queensland on Saturday after the car he was in was swept away by a flood. A man over 70 who fell into a river near Brisbane is still being sought.
The Queensland authorities are urging people to stay off the road and stay at home. In New South Wales, warnings are being issued for flooding and rivers overflowing for Sunday and Monday. More than 300 millimeters of precipitation has fallen in some areas in the past 24 hours.
