El Hierro – Once again the deadliest migration route – the one between the African west coast and the Canary Islands – has claimed lives. Six of the 284 migrants who made the journey to the smallest Canary island of El Hierro during the past 24 hours did not survive their attempt, while eleven migrants who did make it had to be taken to hospital due to hypothermia.
