Dead and wounded by shooting in Dutch caravan camp near Belgian border | Abroad

A man was killed on Sunday afternoon due to a shooting in a caravan camp in the Dutch town of Maarheeze, near the border with Belgium near Hamont-Achel. A second person was injured and tried to flee, but was stopped by police and taken to hospital. A suspect has been arrested.

The police say they are present with many units. Reports of a shooting at De Vinnen caravan camp in the outskirts of the Brabant village came to the police around 4.15 p.m. Once on the scene, the police found two victims, one of whom had died of his injuries. Police found and seized a firearm.

Long trail of blood

According to ‘BN De Stem’, the injured man tried to flee in the direction of the church, but was stopped by the police. He was then taken to hospital by ambulance. On his escape route he left a long trail of blood on the road.

The police are still investigating exactly what happened. The nature of the second victim’s injuries is not yet known.
