Zaporizhzhia (dpa-AFX) – At least 13 people were killed and dozens injured in a Russian glide bomb attack in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia. “There is nothing more brutal than bombing a city when you know that ordinary civilians will suffer,” President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram. According to initial information from the authorities, the attack was aimed at an industrial property. The front line between Russian and Ukrainian troops runs about 30 kilometers south of the city.
Glide bombs are dropped by Russian fighter jets over Russian-controlled territory and then guided to the target. There is hardly any defense option for the cities or military positions that are attacked. Ukraine has been resisting a Russian invasion for almost three years./ast/DP/men
