The new decision brings them into line with Nieuwpoort, meaning that the same rate will apply on the entire West Coast. The proposal will be submitted to the municipal council in December.
The mayors emphasize that the measure is necessary to avoid further legal problems. “We would rather not do this, but we feel forced to do so,” say mayors Wim Janssens (De Panne) and Sander Loones (Koksijde). “By setting the APB at 5%, we opt for legal and fiscal security for our residents. They must not become victims.”
