De Ligt is uncertain at Bayern Munich due to a hand injury

Matthijs de Ligt has suffered a hand injury at Bayern Munich. According to trainer Julian Nagelsmann, it is therefore uncertain whether the Dutch defender, who came over from Juventus for about 70 million euros, can play in the German league match against VfL Bochum on Sunday.

“I would like to let him play, but it remains to be seen how it goes,” said Nagelsmann. De Ligt has torn one of the tires in one hand and is currently wearing a kind of splint. “If he’s not in too much pain, he might be able to participate.”

Strikingly enough, attacker Serge Gnabry is struggling with a similar injury to the wrist. Defender Dayot Upamecano has a calf injury and is therefore also a doubt for the duel with Bochum. In the first two league games, the Frenchman was preferred over De Ligt in the center back.

Nagelsmann also said that Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch, who came over from Ajax, are not yet ready for a base place. “They need time to get used to everything. In training they can show what they can do. I’ll put them in when they are 100 percent,” said the Bayern coach, who did not want to comment on the rumors that Cristiano Ronaldo may be for Borussia Dortmund. “I have learned not to talk about players who are under contract with another club. It is irrelevant to me whether or not he comes to the Bundesliga.”
