De Graafschap – FC Den Bosch shut down after fireworks on the field

The match between De Graafschap and FC Den Bosch in the Kitchen Champion Division was briefly halted in the opening phase of the second half. Den Bosch supporters threw fireworks on the field.

FC Den Bosch fans who traveled along threw fireworks in Doetinchem at the start of the second half. Referee Martijn Vos immediately sent both teams to the changing rooms.

De Graafschap led 2-0. In the end, the game was stopped for fifteen minutes.

The KNVB decided to tighten the rules a few weeks ago, after Ajax player Davy Klaassen was hit on the head in the cup match with Feyenoord by an object thrown from the audience. Since then, a game has been stopped if something comes onto the field from the stands. If this happens again, the game will be stopped.

Riot
The Brabant club was in the news more often this season because of misconduct by ‘alleged’ supporters. At the beginning of this season, the away match against Willem II was stopped after riots in the stands. After that, FC Den Bosch took no supporters to away games for two games.

In February, Opsporing Requested paid attention to the FC Den Bosch – TOP Oss match. The police were still looking for rioters who misbehaved in September 2022. A flight attendant was seriously injured. Several perpetrators have already received a stadium ban.
