The strikes at the Dutch luxury department store De Bijenkorf will be extended to Rotterdam, the union FNV reports in a press release. The strike in Rotterdam is scheduled to take place on October 21st with the employees of Bijenkorf Rotterdam.

Department store employees from Amsterdam and Amstelveen will also take part in the strike, the press release says. They will join in the afternoon and take part in the picket line. In the last few weeks, three strikes have taken place in Amsterdam and Amstelveen.

Bijenkorf workers go on strike to negotiate higher wages with department store management. The staff and the union are demanding a wage increase of at least 10 percent. In addition, they want agreements to be reached that allow salaries to be increased in line with high inflation. The department store wants to increase wages by a maximum of six percent.
