National team captain Dennis Schröder is apparently about to make another move to the NBA. At the Golden State Warriors he should support a real superstar.

Basketball world champion Dennis Schröder is apparently on the verge of a trade in the middle of the season. This is what the US media reports. Accordingly, the captain of the German national team should move from the Brooklyn Nets to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for De’Anthony Melton, where superstar Stephen Curry plays in the guard position.

The Nets are tenth in the Eastern Conference with ten wins from 25 games. The Warriors’ playoff chances would be better, the team from San Francisco is fifth in the West. It has been a successful season for Schröder so far, averaging 18.4 points and 6.6 assists per game. The 31-year-old only moved from the Toronto Raptors to Brooklyn in February; the Warriors would be his eighth stop in the NBA.

According to ESPN, the move will be finalized on Sunday. Schröder is supposed to fill the gap that Melton left with the Golden State Warriors after a cruciate ligament tear. The 26-year-old, who helped Curry develop, is out for the entire season. Without Melton, the Warriors have lost seven of their past nine games. His loss “changed everything,” admitted coach Steve Kerr.

For Schröder, the change would be a reward for the strong performances since the start of the season. “I’ve been here for twelve years, I know how the business works. Ultimately, I play for Brooklyn, I’m very happy here. But you know that you also play for everyone else,” Schröder told the SID after the start.

Schröder’s contract expires in the summer of 2025 and he will still receive $13 million this season. According to ESPN, he is expected to go to San Francisco in exchange for Melton and three future second-round picks. The Nets also offer the Warriors a future second-round pick.
