DAZN is changing its tactics – the cheapest option is no longer available. New customers only have two options.

The streaming provider DAZN has made a change: the cheap “World” package has been abolished. A spokesman for the company confirmed this to the online magazine “DWDL.de”. This package has been available for two years as an entry-level option for ten euros per month. New customers can only choose between the paid “Super Sports” and “Unlimited” packages.

The package included, among other things, broadcasts of the NBA, selected football games and darts events. It was no longer actively advertised last year because DAZN had lost certain broadcasting rights – including through collaborations such as with Sportdigital.

Instead, DAZN is pursuing a new strategy: free access is to be increasingly expanded. Content such as women’s football, which was previously part of the “World” package, is now available at no additional cost. There is also an alternative for darts fans: the free, ad-supported channel “DAZN Darts x Pluto TV”.

According to DAZN, everything remains unchanged for existing customers who have already subscribed to the “World” package.

There are now only two paid options available for new customers: “Super Sports” offers, among other things, the Friday and Sunday games of the Bundesliga for 19.99 euros per month. The “Unlimited” package, on the other hand, costs 34.99 euros per month. Customers receive a more comprehensive offer with the Champions League, other Bundesliga broadcasts and, from the coming season, also the Saturday conferences. Pay-TV broadcaster Sky currently still holds these rights.
