Robby Hunke is one of the commentators when it comes to football reporting. He has to endure a lot – but now he’s had enough.
It is well known that football commentators have to endure a lot. Many fans in front of the screens use the anonymity of the Internet to express their dissatisfaction with any broadcasts of football games on TV. Robby Hunke, who works for RTL and Dazn, among others, has now reacted and taken a position via Instagram.
In a video he shows some unpleasant comments – and wants to clarify them. Hunke, who commented on the Champions League game between Juventus Turin and Galatasaray Istanbul (3:2 nV) on Wednesday evening, says: “I’m horrified by what people write to you and make comments like that. For example, I regularly receive insults against my children.”
In the same breath, Robby Hunke questions what drives older men, including fathers, to write such things.
In his post on Instagram he also writes: “Men, and yes it’s only men, work on your impulse control! You are role models for your children. Criticism for certain assessments – ok, but when you ask again, no one can even give you a valid point. Or people are ashamed of themselves.”
And further: “We commentators are not lightning rods! And yes, there is also a lot of positive news with more well-founded, substantive feedback. I’m very happy about that, for example.” Robby Hunke concludes with: “Guys, less anger, it’s about football.”
He received a lot of understanding feedback on his post. Nobody can really understand why they, as a commentator, are treated like this.
