FC Bayern will have to do without central defender Dayot Upamecano in the league game at SC Freiburg on Saturday. According to sports director Christoph Freund, the Frenchman is suffering from “mild muscular problems”. The waiver of Upamecano is a “precautionary measure”.
In addition to central defenders Min-Jae Kim and Eric Dier, Joshua Kimmich should play on the right in the back four. With a view to extending the DFB captain’s contract, Freund was “positive” at Sky that he would ultimately decide to continue playing for Bayern Munich.

The long-time German national player will play in the center of midfield next to Joshua Kimmich during the guest appearance in Rotterdam.
Bayern Munich can probably rely on Josip Stanišić again in the home game against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday (3:30 p.m. in the t-online live ticker). “I assume that we have him back in the squad, that is very positive for us. But he is one of the boys who had no preparation, he needs patience,” said coach Vincent Kompany on Friday.
Stanišić was loaned out to double winners Bayer Leverkusen last season and since his return has only played in the first round of the cup against second division club SSV Ulm (4-0). Since then, the 24-year-old right-back has been out due to a torn lateral ligament in his right knee and, most recently, a strain.
Kompany can also plan with midfielder João Palhinha again soon. The Portuguese international was partially integrated again on Friday afternoon in the German record champions’ final training session for the Wolfsburg game.
He tore his adductor muscle (right) while playing for the national team last November and has been out since then. Bayern’s duel with Wolves will be the eleventh competitive game that the summer purchase will miss due to this injury.
