Captain Volandri has chosen the team that will take the field at the SuperTennis Arena in BolognaFiere for the Davis Cup quarterfinals. Here’s who the protagonists will be and the match schedule

The Davis Cup team is practically done. Captain Filippo Volandri will officially announce the lineup only tomorrow: you have until an hour beforehand to change it, therefore until 3pm, given that the quarter-final match with Austria will begin at 4pm, at the SuperTennis Arena in BolognaFiere. The names of the singles players, however, have already been chosen: number 1 Flavio Cobolli (22nd in the ATP rankings), number 2 Matteo Berrettini (56th). The doubles, at the moment, sees the pair of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori on pole, fresh from the semi-finals at the ATP Finals and seventh in the world in the specialty ranking. On the “bench”, ready to make his contribution, Lorenzo Sonego (n.39 ATP), protagonist of a good season finale and called at the last minute by Volandri to replace Lorenzo Musetti.

The program includes, as the first singles match, the match between the number 2s of the respective national teams: therefore Berrettini against Jurij Rodionov, n.177 in the world rankings and left-handed (for this reason, in recent days in Bologna, Matteo trained with the young Italian talent Vasamì). Following, the match between the number 1s: Cobolli against Filip Misolic (n.79). In case of a draw, the “beauty” of the doubles, which Volandri really hopes he won’t have to reach.
