Almost three months after David Lynch’s death, the director’s grave is ready. The inscription on the tombstone fits his work.

That’s what it’s about

Jennifer Lynch, the daughter of the filmmaker, shared a photo of the resting place on social media. “Dad rests in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Visit him if you can. I’ll do it,” she wrote under the picture. A simple black grave slab can be seen on this on a meadow, on the right and left you can see laid out flowers. On the record, David Keith Lynch is the full name of the director, followed by his life data, only stated in years, 1946 to 2025. This means mysterious: “Night Blooming Jasmine”.

Night Jasmine: What did David Lynch mean?

Jennifer Lynch did not explain what is meant by the inscription. Fans guess that this English name for the ornamental plant night jasmine has to do with a preference for the deceased for the plant. Clips from interviews and other video recordings by David Lynch are divided as evidence.

For example, the director himself posted a “weather update” during the pandemic in 2021 and said the words: “Now the days are getting longer and spring is just around the corner. Then, at least in La, the night jasmine will meet the air again with its sublime fragrance.”

The enigmatic grave inscription fits the work of the filmmaker. Finally David Lynch was with the series “Twin Peaks” (1990–91, film 2017) and films such as “Eraserhead” (1977), “Blue Velvet” (1986) and “Mulholland Drive” (2001) known for bizarre to mysterious work, many were considered a visionary.
