That’s what you call stylish: David Byrne rang in the new year by celebrating an entertaining and beautifully danced version of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” with Miley Cyrus.

Cyrus invited Byrne to her New Year’s Eve special, which has since become a good TV tradition. This year, the singer hosted it with legendary colleague and godmother Dolly Parton. The 30-year-old not only sang the Bowie classic with the former Talking Heads singer, but also his “American Utopia” song “Everybody’s Coming To My House”. On the tour of the same name for his album, Byrne had created a fascinating performance show in which he, as the main protagonist, also put on fascinating dance routines. If you couldn’t see it live, you can see it in the theatrical version directed by Spike Lee.

Oscars for David Byrne?

Byrne could win an Oscar for Best Movie Song alongside Mitski this year. Their duet “This Is A Life” – featured in the film “Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Always” – is currently shortlisted for nominations at the upcoming Academy Awards. However, the musician already has a golden boy: in 1988 there was an Oscar for his film music for “The Last Emperor”.

New song by Miley Cyrus: “Flowers”

Incidentally, Miley Cyrus also appeared with Parton, Sia, Paris Hilton, Fletcher and Swae Lee during the two-hour show. In addition, she announced her new single called “Flowers”, which is due out on January 13th.
