Dauser missed the top ten in the all-around

Lukas Dauser missed out on a top ten place in the all-around competition at the World Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp. The Unterhachinger scored 80.431 points in the six-event competition consisting of pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, horizontal bar and floor and took 16th place. He gave up a better position with a weak presentation on the ground.

World champion in the first individual men’s decision was defending champion Daiki Hashimoto from Japan with 86.132 points. The Ukrainian Illia Kowtun secured second place with 84.998 points ahead of Frederick Richard from the USA (84.332).

Setting the mood for Sunday

“My goal is to do six good gymnastics exercises. I don’t look at placements. It’s clear that I have no chance of being at the front,” Dauser said with foresight. First and foremost, the 30-year-old wanted to use the all-around competition to train again in competition mode and thus prepare himself for the final on his special parallel bars on Sunday.

“For me it’s another great training session. You wouldn’t be able to get into the gym otherwise. The more exercises I do, the better it is for me,” said Dauser. This way he keeps the competitive feeling. “You can’t simulate the situation in the hall with spectators during training.”

The Olympic and World Championships runner-up on the parallel bars once again offered an impeccable performance, especially on his parade apparatus. With 15,400 points, he catapulted himself from 22nd to eleventh place in the intermediate rankings after the first three devices. However, he was unable to maintain this position in the final exercises on the horizontal bar and on the floor.
