Darmstadt coach Florian Kohfeldt scolded after the game at VfB Lübeck about “dirty” and “health-hazardous” foul of the underdog. Even with a few fans, he didn’t get really warm.

Contrasts could hardly have been contrasting before and after. Florian Kohfeldt got this sparkle in his eyes that you can often see when it comes to northern realms. He is native to Bremen in the narrower sense, but obviously all of Northern Germany still triggers something in it. From a purely professional way, he can sing a stanza about all stadiums and clubs in the region. When VfB Lübeck was pulled out of the lottery drum, Darmstadt’s coach was already clear.

“Will be fun to play there”

Sometimes it could be challenging for professional soccer players to get up very well in the first round of cup if the environment exudes the atmosphere of a district sports facility, said Kohfeldt before the game. Just to rule out this: In Lübeck, the lilies would at least not get this problem with certainty. “The Lohmühle is a very characteristic stadium. It will be fun to be there,” said Kohfeldt.

Darmstadt’s coach remembered After the 2-1 win of his lilies Even to his words: “I was really looking forward to the Lohmühle. Unfortunately, I can no longer say that afterwards.” Although his team skipped the hurdle at the regional league by Matej Maglica (34th) and Fraser Hornby (73.), his review was poor.

Successful Expectation management

The reason for this was not that after the Lübeck connecting goal in added time, it became exciting again and the lilies were unable to prevent such inconvenience with a higher leadership. Kohfeldt had finally predicted this precisely. “Nobody should go into play with expectations: The main thing is that we lead 2-0 after ten minutes,” he said. Then did in the 73rd minute. But that wasn’t Kohfeld’s topic anyway. With the progress, the goal of the business trip was fulfilled, there was nothing to complain about in the game. The SVD coach conveyed this credibly.

What had vigorously hidden his mood, however, was the very trusting duel tour of some Lübeck players. While the VfB coach Guerino Capretti struggled a little with the fact that after his team’s connecting goal, no right game came about in added time, his counterpart, despite the progress, was far from finished with the fouls, which led to these interruptions at all.

“They were brutal fouls”

Above all, Kohfeldt’s angered against Kai Klefisch (“smooth red”). Fraser Hornby was also hit hard, and there was no shortage of space, his trainer said: “These are both goals above the ankle who go full throttle. What has happened here the last 20 minutes and what the referee has not prevented is not okay. These were brutal fouls. Kick, knee -high.”

At the end of an intensive working day, Kohfeldt did not show the need for a quick reunion. Also with some spectators who were sitting behind him in the main grandstand, it crunched: “What insults come and how it is dealt with with each other, I have to say: I am very for emotions and for trying everything to win. But unfortunately it was not a football festival, but at the back of it. You just have to say that.”

But, to stay in the picture, at least a dirty victory for the lilies, who can now look at how the competitors are doing and against whom it works in the second round. Kohfeldt may be reconciled with Lübeck at a little distance.
